Treasurer Wanted– Board of Director, Charity

WE ARE SEEKING:

We’re seeking an individual with Accounting and Board of Director experience to join our Charity  helping to provide funding and or development tools through partnerships to established NFP’s or organizations who want to connect with Veterans House Charity and its partners to provide programs or services for Veterans’ Mental Health and/or First Responders.

WHO WE ARE:

Our Board members have decades of experience in starting businesses and Not-For-Profits, organizing events, outreach, retreats as well as our own experiences with suffering and healing from all different types of trauma. We know not everyone suffers in the same way or benefits from recovery with the same journey.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Preparing financial reports for board meetings.
  • Ensure proper financial procedures are followed by the Charity when fund transfers occur to partnered NFP’s and other organizations.
  • Cosign cheques.
  • Attend Board meetings to discuss, vote on and implement policy and procedure for Charity operations.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • A desire and willingness to provide leadership in the delivery of programs for Veterans and First Responders bringing continuity to the future of the charity.
  • Previous Board experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years proven accounting experience
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Well organized
  • Associate’s degree or relevant certification (preferably in Accounting or Finance)

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to promote quality peer support for veterans. We do this  by providing guidance, ongoing support, and mentorship to veterans mental health non-profit organizations, and through providing information and resources to Veterans and Health Care Providers.

Veterans House partners with corporations and individuals committed to giving back to the veteran through one time and continuous funding. As a registered Charity, we are able to provide tax receipts to our donating partners.
